After spending what was a lovely afternoon adventuring around in the sun, Theo & I ended up at my house eating a pepperoni/olive/pickle pizza and watching Robot Holocaust. When you see a name that good on the free On Demand list, you simply cannot resist.
But you should.
While watching it I thought, ‘This looks like a Mystery Science Theater 3000 quality flick.’

Yesterday twas a great day. No question ‘bout it.
La Dispute’s last ever show at Skelletones (/tear) was AMAZING! There was even a suprise performance by Charles the Osprey!!! If you read this and have not seen La Dispute live, then please do yourself a favor and do whatever it takes to do so. There is this impossible intensity and emotion in their music; it truly has to be seen. The second time that Theo and I saw them was when I realized what an amazing thing those gentlemen are doing. During ‘To Withstand the Force of Storms’:
whisper secrets, speak in a hushed voice
the first thing that you learn is that you never let them hear you
in a soundproof room, in a windowless world
keep your voice down or dull your words.
goosebumps.
The singer, Jordan, has to be one of the most humble and happy people I’ve ever met. After the show it’s common for people to line up and give him a hug and talk with him for a bit. While doing so myself I heard an interesting exchange.
kid ‘great show man, you’re my hero!’
jordan ‘thanks, but no, you’re my hero’
kid ‘no seriously, you’re my hero’
jordan ‘that’s like saying your neighbor is your hero, i’m no different than you brother. you neighbor is a much better hero to have than me, we just make music.’
I thought that was cool.
And note to first guy who did a stage dive during ‘Said the King to the River’: Please don’t thrash your feet around, it’s a really good way to kick people(like me) repeatedly in the face. It is not appreciated. If I purposely pushed you towards a whole in the crowd where I thought you might fall, that is why.
And another note to any small/weak/defenseless/crippled females who attend concerts: Beware of Jarrod. He will wreck you.
Later that night we watched Initial D, some Japanese movie with Cantonese overdubs and English subtitles. Entertaining movie, with a good moral: if you girlfriend is a whore, then she always will be, you may as well just leave and join a racing team.
Oh, and I really am going to strive to someday attain the title of Tofuman. srsly. Tofuman.
Okie dokes, time for me to go pick up Left4Dead. Today I’m LANing with Jarrod, Rich, and Ryan. Amazing games with amazing friends. Life couldn’t be much better!
(side note: I used a semicolon for the first time in at least half a year. That makes me feel special.)
