When I’m here in Flintvilleshire, myself and the 5 gents I live with buy groceries together and try to eat large meals together whenever possible to save $. I offered to handle the task of being the accountant, so I divide up the $ from each receipt and keep track of who owes who what by the end of the term. I actually don’t mind it, for some odd reason I really enjoy using spreadsheets. It may be the process of taking a blank page and turning it into something with a productive and efficient output…either way, I’m a geek.
After running the numbers for the past 3 months today I came up with a rough approximation of how much, per person, we spend on food each day. This number is a little rough seeing as how it doesn’t account for eating out (we pay seperately then) or the non-food items we purchase. Regardless, I was pleasently suprised with how low the number was: $2.38 a day.
I’ll be the first to admit that we don’t eat the healthiest, but we do a decent job (besides, isn’t that what multi-vitamins are for?). The best part of all of this:
We didn’t have ramen once this term!

Far and away, this is my favorite song to listen to while walking to class.
It doesn’t matter if it’s 8am and the class I’m walking to is a nighmare of clip art and comic sans, this song simply makes me feel good about life.
