the reason I’m literate
According to Google, on January 1st of this year, one person was referred to this here website by typing ‘top gear dead pull dying car’ into Google.
I thought that was odd.
..anyway…
I just finished reading ‘Still Life with Woodpecker’ by Tom Robbins. AMAZING book. If you have any interest in the last-quarter of the twentieth century, the purpose of the moon, how to make love stay, the difference between outlaws and criminals, where redheads come from, the Remington SL3 typewriter, pyramids, Camel cigarettes, or how to makes bombs out of Fruit Loops, then please read this book.
Sometime in the next year I hope to re-read this book and highlight all of the genius little phrases and literary bits in this book. Reading this has felt similar to reading many of Douglas Adams’ books; half of the enjoyment derives not from the characters or the plot (however great they may be) but from the unique and flamboyant style in which it is written. I’m very excited to read ‘Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas’ next, although a second person/present tense novel will be a bit different.
I simply cannot recommend this book enough.
Yum.
couch arrest
*cough*
I hate being sick.
Maybe not. It sucks having to cancel awesome plans with Shemeko, and not being able to hang out with the Pohlers, yet it’s been kinda nice to get a lot of reading/watching done. I’m sooo close to being done with ‘Still Life with Woodpecker’ by Tom Robbins, I finally saw ‘Burn After Reading’, and I’m now starting on ‘The Watchmen’. I am getting sick of this couch though, it likes to leave funny lines all over me when I fall asleep on it. It’s like some freakish corduroy couch thing…I don’t trust it.
It looks like I am now moving to Flint on Thursday. I’m looking forward to living there even more than I have in the past, yet I’m even more reluctant to leave then ever, it’s funny how that works. It’s a good thing though, it’s simply the result of my growing relationships. I love my friends here, the ones I grew up with, the ones I met through His House or JCC, and I love my friends at school.
Before I go back to reading ‘The Watchmen’, I need to leave you with this: Auditorium
This game was recommened to me by the gentlemen over at Totally Rad Show; it’s an interesting little puzzle/music game, very addictive, sometimes frustrating, always satisfying. My strategy is to fill up one or two of the meters right off the bat just so that I can have some music going while I plan how I’m going to solve it.
Please spend 10-20 minutes trying out Auditorium, I think you will find it to be time well spent.
