post-teen

Today is my last ever day as a teenager.

I think I’m ready for decade #3. I can tell that I have matured a lot of the last few years and I feel odd whenever I say that I’m still 19…maybe that’s because I have so many friends who are older. A the same time, I’m a bit intimidated by what is to come in the next 10 years. My 20’s is where I see myself graduating, starting a career, finding myself a lovely gal…maybe even growing a beard. Luckily, I know that God has something amazing for me up his sleeve and, whether or not it’s anything like I imagine it now, I know that it will be the  perfect place for me to be. I’m looking forward to finding out.

Speaking of time, next week Wednesday is Junior halfway here at Kettering. That means that I will be exactly halfway through my college experience. Time goes far too fast.

Alright….since it has been a while since my last post, I’m just going to haphazardly throw down thoughts. Pardon the laziness.

  • I cannot wait to get back home tonight! I’m planning on seeing a lot of people who bring a lot of blessings and joy to my life. Also, I get to play bass!
  • My Engineering Materials homework sadly makes my weekends quite miserable. I’m still not sure how I’m gonna fit in 8+ hours before Monday if I’m going home.
  • I had a wonderfully fun and surprising visit from a friend from good ol’ Grand Rapids the other day.
  • I adore Ultimate Frisbee, however I always get sore very odd places.
  • I’m awful at soccer, although I think that I got a shot on goal last night….I think….
  • I went golfing a few weeks ago at a course just a few blocks over. I shot a 49, which is a pretty good score for me (I felt like I was swinging a 45 though). After a night at the driving range I may have figured out a way to control my high slice, and when I get that club to connect on a straight shot, I can get surprisingly good distance.
  • I should start a new book soon. I’m on #4 in the Hitchhiker’s Guide series and have a pair of Tom Robbins on deck, but in the ‘learning some truth’ category I’m on lap 2 of Sex God by Rob Bell. Maybe I’ll start Irresistible Revolution soon…..although it kinda scares me.
  • Right now I feel like listening to the blues and watching a storm (like the pic up top, taken from my porch).

Sep 22. I shall count the hour….

I am currently very excited about two things:

1. Ultimate Club

Last week some gentlemen at my school finally threw together an Ultimate frisbee club for A-section. I played last week and had a great time, there’s quite a few solid players here. We even play twice a week, which is fantastic! (although it happens to always be right before my soccer games)

2. Porcupine Tree

I spent most of last week giggling and clapping my hands like a schoolgirl while listening to the preview for Porcupine Tree’s newest album. Today I stepped up my fanboy-age even further. I bought a pair of tickets for Andrew (one of my roomates) and myself to go see them on September 22 in Chicago. Sure that’s the week of my exams, but for my favorite band….I’ll make it work. I cannot wait.

Please do give the album preview a listen, really good stuff y’all =D

good news. bad news. may by the day.

good news.

We kicked off Wednesday night Ultimate tonight. The wind made things a bit tricky, but overall it was lovely weather. I was also pleased with how surprisingly well I played. That was nice.

bad news.

We had some announcements today at work.

A few of our departments are being amalgamated into other plants which can meet capacity or are sending equipment to other plants. This makes perfect sense from a buisness standpoint but it’s sad to see people lose their jobs, especially a guy I work with a lot who has worked there 23 years.  Also, our management team and salary workers are being….reorganized. Although I’m not salary, I’m still feel quite a bit of fear about my job situation. It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

Friends, please pray for myself and those I work with. Pray that I will not get bogged down with worry, but instead trust that God brings good through all things

may by the day.

I’ve been looking forward to this. I am going to post once every day for the entirety of May.

The twist is: the word count of each post must equal the date (ie my post on the 12th will have 12 words).

I’m hoping that this will not only encourage me to make a point of blogging each night, but also help me to write more succinct posts. I do have a tenancy to ramble.
