The downside of working long days:

Leaving the house at 7am and getting back at 7:30pm tends to wear one out. Also, short evenings make the next morning kinda meh.

The upside of working long days:

Friday afternoon I either get to leave early or get great overtime pay. A perfect win-win and a fantastic start to the weekend.

I also found out that upper management has cleared me to work during our ‘shutdown’ week and ignore 4 days of my layoff. This means I sadly won’t be going on a trip to the UP with some good friends, but I do need the $ (plus work has been very rewarding lately).

I conclude that all is well.

not suprisingly…

I’m now the sole remaining member of my team at work. In the past 2 years I have had 10 other people in my focus group at work, they have all since left or (mostly) have been given the boot. Kinda a bummer losing many coworkers that taught me a lot and were fun to work with, also sad that I lost a fantastic manager. Now that we are reorganizing and consolodating with a sister plant (aka. being taken over) it seems I will be picking up some GM work along with my usual Chrysler stuff. Awesome. I get to work on product for two bankrupt companies. Luckily Chrysler should start back up in 2 weeks. /crossfingers

While I’m allowing myself to feel down for the first time in the past few weeks, I have only 4 more weeks of work left this term. I’ll be moving out in <6. I always enjoy the term that I’m on at the time, but it feels as if the move is coming much sooner than usual…and the term has just started to get really fun.

-Possible trip to the UP

-Red Wings aren’t dissapointing

-Calvin friends are finally out

-Making great new friendships

-Still employed

-Still saved

Mandatory temporary layoff. Last day of work term is now June 26.

good news. bad news. may by the day.

good news.

We kicked off Wednesday night Ultimate tonight. The wind made things a bit tricky, but overall it was lovely weather. I was also pleased with how surprisingly well I played. That was nice.

bad news.

We had some announcements today at work.

A few of our departments are being amalgamated into other plants which can meet capacity or are sending equipment to other plants. This makes perfect sense from a buisness standpoint but it’s sad to see people lose their jobs, especially a guy I work with a lot who has worked there 23 years.  Also, our management team and salary workers are being….reorganized. Although I’m not salary, I’m still feel quite a bit of fear about my job situation. It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

Friends, please pray for myself and those I work with. Pray that I will not get bogged down with worry, but instead trust that God brings good through all things

I’m hoping that this will not only encourage me to make a point of blogging each night, but also help me to write more succinct posts. I do have a tenancy to ramble.
